What the Iranian people demand of western governments.

In 1979 the Iranian people rose against the dictatorship of Shah. But after the overthrow of the Shah regime, another dictatorship seized power in Iran: The mullahs.
The rule of mullahs was the product of western governments’ drastic mistake in their coup against the nationalist government of Dr. Mohammad Mossadeq, blocking the progress of nationalist and democratic forces and opening the way for a reactionary alternative.
The Iranian people never desired a backward regime and they did not bring down the Shah to let the mullahs take over and establish a much more vicious rule. They neither want that decadent past nor the reactionary present. They seek freedom and advancement towards future.
The mullahs’ regime executed and killed more than 120,000 members and supporters of Iranian opposition group PMOI/MEK. Yet, the people of Iran and their legitimate resistance NCRI and PMOI/MEK did not give in to tyranny and continued their struggle for freedom.
Today, we are hopeful and we can see the signs of victory culminated in the uprisings and protests across Iran throughout the past year. The regime’s supreme leader has called on his forces to be ready to counter efforts for the regime’s overthrow in the coming Iranian year (2019-2020).
The Iranian people have started a new era, a new phase, in the battle to bring down the mullahs’ theocratic rule. The Iranian people and their resistance expect the international community to respect their struggle for liberating Iran from the evil and mischief of the mullahs’ religious fascism. Western governments bear double responsibility because they have had a role in preserving this regime, particularly in the past two decades.
The policy of appeasement offered countless opportunities for the survival of the mullahs’ regime, especially by cracking down on the Iranian Resistance NCRI and PMOI/MEK, blacklisting it, and restricting it.
The Iranian people as well as their resistance movement, the Iranian opposition group PMOI/MEK, do not want this regime to have any bullets, or sell any barrel of oil, or spend a single dollar of the Iranian nation’s wealth on suppression and terrorism.
The objective of the Iranian people and their Resistance is to overthrow the regime in its entirety. The goal is freedom, democracy, and the sovereignty of our people’s republic.
This is the path to freedom in Iran, and the road to peace and tranquility in the region and the world.
